The half hectare west facing battle axe bare block with expansive bay views in a good part of Mt Martha presented some interesting problems, privacy was a concern as there were 5 neighbours back yards with large two storey homes over looking the site.
As the view required no real elevation to achieve we used the block size and manipulation of ground levels to give privacy. By digging in the extended family accommodation living areas gave the home a predominantly single storey presence, floating over the newly created ground levels. A separate garage and the ability to walk up to the main entrance helped with bulk.
The digging in also helped in providing privacy to the west facing pool and outdoor living areas, an expansive native garden with natural rock, earthy tones and honest timber helped settle this home into it’s newly created natural setting, fulfilling the owners request of a light, airy, easy living home – taking full advantage of the block and views.
