Headland Waters, Mt Martha (2009)

Located in the Headland Waters Estate at Mt Martha, the featured project boasts a spectacular outlook, with elevated west-facing views over Port Phillip Bay.

The clients wanted a large home with four bedrooms and abundant open living space. They also wanted a pool, outdoor living and landscaping, which had to be completed within the very strict height and bulk regulations – a difficult task with such large floor plan needs.

We accommodated this by using a low, fine roof, which has been stepped to maximise floor height around the upper floor’s major living zones.

The home is single-storey at the eastern end, while the area at the front western side is double storey with the lower level having direct access to the pool and outdoor living areas.

Contained on the home’s top level are the client’s children’s bedrooms, along with the main bedroom, central kitchen, scullery and bathroom all under the raised pop-top roof. There are three living zones - the kids’ rumpus room to the rear, and lounge and family rooms separated by the dining area at the front.

Large balconies upstairs allow for quality outdoor living, and a deck to the rear of the house offers wind protection and morning sun while maintaining views through the home.

Natural rock and copper finishes have enhanced the home’s aesthetic appeal, allowing it to blend with the natural environment. A brick wall was constructed outside as a wind break and to provide privacy to the pool area.
